Welcome to my life!

Hello, my name is Lara and I’m 23 years old. I am currently a professional ballerina in New Zealand who happens to have a love of being in the kitchen. I primarily bake all things grain-free, dairy-free and refined sugar-free but most of all I create recipes that don’t compromise on flavour or texture while making you feel good.

I’ve previously struggled with disordered eating, though I am so thrilled to have found peace with food. It was a difficult journey as I used only to see food as numbers, but now I see it as something that can bring you joy in life (aka tahini and cacao). Food is something that can make you feel energised, healthy and happy. I tested positive for SIBO during 2020 (small intestinal bacterial overgrowth), so it became extremely important that my diet was gut-friendly and relatively low in sugar.

I found that too many grains would flare up my digestive system, so being gluten-free already, I decided to give the paleo approach a go. This style of eating has truly changed my life, while I occasionally have the odd treat, I find I feel my best living a whole foods-based diet. If you eat what makes you feel good, then you are showing yourself the utmost respect and giving it the ability to do many incredible things.

So while having a few food intolerances, I’ve learned the importance of a whole food lifestyle and fallen in love with creating delicious grain-free baking which I share with the world through my Instagram, @feedinglara. When not a professional ballet dancer in New Zealand, I love learning new skills in the kitchen and have a love for food photography which I now incorporate into my Instagram.
